This article has been viewed 55 times.

If you are going to buy a fruit juicer you really need to learn about them. Once you understand the different types you will be more able to choose the best model for you and your family. So why don’t we learn some more and check out the different types.

A guy called Dr Norman Walker invented the first juicers as long ago as 1930. He lived until he was 108 and must have realised how good fruit juice is for you and took advantage of his invention. As the wise doctor knew, health is a good reason for drinking juices and that’s why it’s recommended that we take in 5 portions a day of fruit and vegetables.

A lot of us don’t get 5 a day just from our meals and that’s why owning a juice extractor is a really good idea. A shortage of vitamins can cause illnesses and a reduced amount of stamina and energy. Knowing that doctors nowadays recommend juicing to the ill and recovering cancer patients. That’s because during chemotherapy treatment a body loses the needed vitamins and minerals. Fresh fruit drinks are a tasty way to quickly and easily replace the lost vitamins and minerals.

Another really important aspect for recovering cancer patients is that fresh juice drinks can help to boost the immune system  and flush out the toxins the body has picked up during chemotherapy. But, be careful with how much fresh juice you have if you have to control your sugar levels. Consuming excess juice from vegetables or fruits that are high in sugar levels could be harmful for you. Unlike other juices, that of fresh fruit or vegetables are absorbed faster into the bloodstream. Anything that contains high sugar levels could cause an imbalance in blood sugar levels in your body. Those who have no problem with high sugar levels and incorporate juicing into their routine should reap lifetime benefits of better health, more vitality and energy.

Let us take a look at what juicers are:

Fruit juicers are kitchen appliances that are either manual or electrical in operation. They can be used to extract juice from fresh fruits and vegetables. You will find extractors specifically designed for different fruits or vegetables. These machines are basically designed similar to blenders. The difference is that the fruit juicers will separate the pulp or waste from the juice while a blender mashes everything in and you will have to strain the juice out yourself.

The best juicers are not all the same; their mechanisms of extracting juice do differ. Examples of extraction are twin press, centrifugal, masticating, centrifugal ejection, single auger, manual press and dual cage auger. Of all of them, centrifugal is the oldest. Basically, the force it uses is centrifugal to be able to extract juice. On the other hand, centrifugal ejection is similar to centrifugal model juicers. The only difference being that, centrifugal ejection fruit juicers have slanted sides on its basket. Cleaning and maintaining them are therefore much easier. The only downside is that they are noisy. You could consider the manual press extractor as one of the best juicers, this is because they retain the nutrients well. Since they use pressure in extraction, no oxidation occurs.

When shopping for a fruit juicer there are a few points that you should take into consideration. First you need to remember that an expensive model does not necessarily mean the best brand. You should decide what type of machine that you require before searching. I also recommend that you go for a machine that is easy to use, clean and maintain that fits your requirements.
